Norwood trio in court for gun cache, dagga

Johannesburg - Three people arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition, and explosives at a house in Norwood are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Emma Shumler-Tishko, aged 62, her husband Mark, aged 59, and Endi Nkhoma, aged 26, have been charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, dealing in dagga, and contravention of the Explosives Act.

Wheelchair-bound Emma Shumler-Tishko was previously granted bail of R5 000 because of her condition. Mark Shumler-Tishko and Nkhoma remain in custody.

The Ukranian couple and Nkhoma were arrested at the couple's house in Norwood, north of Johannesburg, on 22 May, when police found R1, R4, R5, and AK-47 rifles, and about 300 handguns at the house.

Detonators, a machine used to manufacture ammunition, packaged dagga, and explosives used for ATM bombings were also confiscated.
