One killed, 10 injured in tanker collision

Durban - One person was killed in a collision involving a tanker and several cars on the N2 in Durban near KwaMashu, paramedics said on Saturday.

Netcare spokesperson Chris Botha said it was not clear what had caused the accident, but it took place shortly after 13:00 at the KwaMashu off-ramp.

Kyle van Reenen, spokesperson for Crisis Medical said that 10 people were injured in a secondary collision that happened after the tanker crashed.

The eThekwini Fire Brigade used the jaws of life to extricate the truck driver from the lorry, who was declared dead at the scene.

Further details on the accident were not immediately available.
