Pair jailed for life for KZN murder

Durban - Two men were sentenced to life in jail by the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Mtubatuba on Thursday for murder, robbery and kidnapping.

Leornard Shoti Gina, 47, and Sandile Ngwenya, 26, were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Reita van Vuljk, 66, who was found dead on 5 March 2012 inside her house in the Nkangala area, Captain Thulani Zwane said.

"Police were called at the deceased's house after blood stains were spotted by a relative who last saw her two days earlier.

"Most of her personal belongings and property were missing."

The woman's body had stab and gunshot wounds, Zwane said.

The men, both from Jozini, were arrested shortly after the incident.

They were also sentenced to 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances, five years for kidnapping and 15 years for possession of a an unlicensed firearm, Zwane said.
