Polokwane - The Limpopo education department was working on a plan to help pupils affected by a five-day protest in Vuwani, a spokesperson said on Friday.
Once it had determined how much time had been lost, a recovery plan would be developed, Naledzani Rasila said.
Matric pupils missed a few exams this week because of the protests, which began last Sunday.
Residents protested against a decision by the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) to include their area in a new municipality.
The Vuwani Residents’ Association blockaded roads with burning tyres and rubble and prevented pupils from going to school. On Monday night, stores were broken into and set alight.
Community leaders suspended the protest on Thursday, but said they intended going to court.
Chief Livhuwani Matsila said they would seek an interdict to prevent government from implementing the MDB’s decision.
