Johannesburg - A police helicopter was involved in a landing incident at the Grand Central Airport in Midrand on Monday morning.
“We can confirm that there has been an incident at Grand Central Airport this morning [Monday] involving a helicopter landing and that fortunately no injury or loss of life has occurred. We are unable to supply any further details at this stage but will keep the press updated once we are able to do so," the airport's manager Gary Renault said in a statement.
A separate statement from the police and Airbus Helicopters confirmed that the helicopter was a SA Police Service BK117.
"The aircraft was undertaking a routine post-maintenance test flight at the time. The pilot and other occupants were unhurt and the aircraft has been recovered to the Airbus Helicopters hangar," they said.
"Airbus Helicopters is assisting the SA Police Service with its investigation into the incident."
