Cape Town - A Cape Town paramedic, who has seen many bodies in his time, has described his horror at having found a body, possibly the victim of a serial killer, next to Century City station.
A sixth body was found just last Friday and before that, a body was found the previous Saturday.
All the victims are women, from the same racial group, and appear to be in the same age bracket, reports have said.
While all the bodies were reportedly tied up, the paramedic told the Cape Argus the body he saw on 10 October was not.
He said the body had been “packed in a hole”, covered in maggots and had a definite head injury. He also said the body was bloated as a result of decomposition, meaning it had been there some time.
None of the victims have been identified as yet and police are reluctant to call the crimes the work of a serial killer. However, they are investigating links between the murders.
Western Cape Community Safety MEC Dan Plato has urged women to be vigilant and cautious during the holiday season, Eyewitness News reported on Sunday.
He advised members of the public to let their loved ones know their whereabouts.
Meanwhile, City of Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille said a R50 000 reward was being offered to anyone who could assist police in arresting those behind the murders, Sapa stated.
