Cape Town - A Noordhoek man has told how he took to social media to ask for help after realising he and his heavily pregnant wife were cut off by the fires raging in the area on Monday, and wouldn't be able to get to hospital for their baby's scheduled birth.
Netwerk24's Samantha van den Berg spoke to IT specialist Duane Viljoen, who said he realised that the heavy traffic in the area as a result of Ou Kaapse Weg and Chapman's Peak roads being closed due to the fire meant he and Eva Hedenskog would not be able to make their 11:00 appointment for a Caesarean section at Cape Town Medi-Clinic.
The baby had started to drop and he was not sure if his wife would go into labour. They also did not want to miss the Caesarean appointment, which was made long in advance.
