Presidential protection cop appears in court over family murder

Pretoria- The bail application of a murder-accused warrant officer from the Presidential Protection Services has been postponed yet again in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.

Warrant Officer Benedict Peloeole, who stands accused of murdering his wife and daughter, would have to wait a month to hear whether he was granted bail.

The reason for the latest postponement on Friday was to allow for further investigation. The case was postponed to November 6.

In September the case was postponed on two occasions. The first postponement was to allow him time to get legal representation. The second postponement was due to his lawyer saying he needed to consult with his client properly.

Peloeole was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and daughter at their home in Pretoria. It was alleged the couple had disagreements in the morning before the officer left for his cousin’s funeral arrangement.

When he returned home in the evening, it was alleged he asked his wife to cook for him. While the wife was cooking, he allegedly went to another room where he fetched a firearm before shooting his wife and their daughter.

He asked the neighbour to drive him to the police station where he handed himself over and was subsequently arrested.
