R500 000 reward for info on Bedford Centre robbery

Johannesburg - A R500 000 reward has been offered by the cash-in-transit company whose employees were robbed at the Bedford Centre in Johannesburg, the company said on Friday.

"SBV Services is offering a R500 000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of the suspects," the company said in a statement.

Two of five of its security guards were wounded when armed men shot at them while they were collecting cash in the mall on Thursday morning.

The two were in a stable condition in hospital.

Two of the robbers were shot and wounded, along with three customers caught in the crossfire.

Acting Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi said on Friday that all seven were still alive.

SBV said its employees "bravely defended" the attack.

"SBV's risk and governance team is working in collaboration with the SAPS to apprehend suspects as soon as possible. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during this attack," the company said.

The Hawks had taken over the investigation into the robbery and shooting.
