Johannesburg - Deputy President and SADC facilitator Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in Lesotho on Tuesday afternoon to monitor the implementation of recently-signed agreements, the presidency said.
The SADC facilitation team, under Ramaphosa's leadership and working with Lesotho political leaders, brought about the signing of the Maseru facilitation declaration and the Maseru security accord, spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said in a statement.
This laid the basis for the reconvening of parliament in October this year, the dissolution of parliament in December and the holding of brought-forward elections by end of February 2015.
The security accord led to the agreement for three senior security officers in Lesotho to go on a leave of absence and undergo working visits in their related fields of work in SADC or Commonwealth countries.
Ramaphosa was expected to return to South Africa later on Tuesday.
