"The level of cruelty during farm murders is so appalling that it is impossible not to be outraged by them," CDP leader Theunis Botha said.
Beeld newspaper named the woman as Venessa Stafleu, 34, from the farm Doornfontein 2. Botha said her murder followed the death of a 75-year-old woman, killed on her farm near Citrusdal.
“Some of these farm murders appear to be indiscriminate and are perpetrated only to satisfy some thirst for blood. We regard it as highly irresponsible that the government has not declared farm murders a priority crime,” he said.
The woman was shot and killed when robbers broke into her home at about 20:00 on Monday, said Captain Appel Ernst. Her two children, aged 3 and 5, were in the house at the time.
Money and guns were stolen. At the time, the woman's husband was driving back to the house.
