Robbers make off with two cash boxes in KZN

Johannesburg - Armed robbers made off with two cash boxes in Stanger, KwaZulu-Natal, after opening fire upon security guards late on Saturday morning, provincial police said.

"Three security guards went to collect cash from one of the garages in the area," spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane told News24.

"When they were going to their vehicle, they were approached by a number of suspects who opened fire towards the guards and took two boxes containing cash."

One of the security guards was wounded and taken to hospital for treatment.

The robbers fled the scene in a white Audi and were still at large.

The robbery happened around 11:45, Zwane said.

Police are investigating.

"We are appealing to anyone who might have seen the suspects to come forward with information and contact police," Zwane said.
