Johannesburg – South African middle distance runner Mbulaeni Mulaudzi was killed in a car accident on Friday, according to reports.
eNCA reported that the 2009 world champion was killed in a fatal car crash.
His manager Peet van Zyl told Eyewitness News that Mulaudzi, 34, was definitely one of the most accomplished athletes in SA.
Mulaudzi won 800m silver at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, gold at the 2009 World Champs and gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
He was also the flag bearer for SA at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
