Cape Town - A security officer has been stabbed to death in a busy main road in Cape Town on Wednesday after allegedly approaching a suspected robber.
The 40-year-old security officer was stabbed by the suspect in Lakeside Main Road around 05:00 on Wednesday morning.
“We have reason to believe that the security officer approached a suspect who was in possession of suspected stolen property when he was attacked,” police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut told News24.
No arrests have yet been made, Traut added.
Police are investigating.
Traffic was closed in the area as a result of the incident, causing major delays around Boyes Drive and Main Road in Steenberg.
