Polokwane - Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters should not be concerned with gaining positions within the party, the party's deputy president Floyd Shivambu said on Sunday.
"Comrades, all of us in the struggle for economic freedom, we must be disciplined... We must not be about positions, we must not be about ourselves."
Shivambu said those who had not made the cut to run for a position within the party should give support to those who had, instead of bad-mouthing them.
"When you are not selected as a candidate, you must rally all the forces behind the chosen councillor candidate and go to each and every household to tell our people that the EFF is the only organisation
which is going to bring about real change.
"You must not go about gossiping or speaking bad about leaders of the EFF."
Shivambu also urged members to familiarise themselves with the party's policies and what the EFF stood for.
"We must never be criminals, we must be disciplined soldiers for economic freedom. Discipline is not just a side issue, it is a central thing that must guide all of us."
Night vigil
Shivambu was speaking at a night vigil ahead of EFF leader Julius Malema's appearance at the High Court in Polokwane for corruption, fraud, racketeering, and money-laundering charges on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday night, the party's secretary general Godrich Gardee had told the packed Jack Botes hall that unlike President Jacob Zuma, Malema was not afraid of facing the court of law.
"Zuma always runs away from court. We are proud of our leader because he never runs away from court.
"We are more than ready, we have not lost a single case in court. They are still going to lose," he said.
