Johannesburg - Six people have died and two others were seriously injured in separate accidents in KwaZulu-Natal, provincial emergency medical services (EMS) said on Sunday.
Paramedics responded to the first accident around 18:30 on the R600 at the Emmaus hospital turn off, around one kilometre from Winterton, where a minibus and a car collided.
"Sadly they found that all four male occupants from the sedan had been fatality injured," spokesperson Robert Mckenzie said in a statement.
"The driver of the minibus was the only occupant of the vehicle and he had sustained serious injuries during the crash, which had left both vehicles seriously damaged."
The second accident occurred in Mpumalanga near Hammarsdale, outside of Durban.
"In a second incident... sadly two patients sustained fatal injuries in a crash on Mtoko Mkhize road. A third patient survived the crash, with serious injuries and was treated by KZN EMS paramedics, before being transported to hospital," McKenzie said.
Police were investigating the cause of the crashes, with both occurring on Saturday evening.
