Soweto man killed by girlfriend's ex

Johannesburg - A man was shot and killed in Diepkloof, Soweto in the early hours of Saturday morning by his girlfriend's former lover, Gauteng police said.

The former lover had called the woman around 04:00 on Saturday informing her that he was on his way to her place, spokesperson Kay Makhubela said.

"About 20 minutes later he arrived and knocked on her window. She ignored him."

The woman was in the company of her new boyfriend, who opened the door and walked out of the woman's shack.

He was followed by the former lover, who then shot at him several times in the upper body.

The 32-year-old was declared dead on the scene.

The former lover, also believed to be in his 30s, fled the scene in a car. He is still at large.
