Student’s body found on UWC campus

Cape Town - The body of a 19-year-old man was found on the main campus at the University of the Western Cape in Bellville on Monday morning.

UWC spokesperson Luthando Tyhalibongo told News24 the deceased’s name is Thobela Rintsana, a first-year BSc Geology student. Rintsana’s family has been informed of his death.

Tyhalibongo said the body was found outside near the IT department on the main campus.

He denied claims that Rintsana’s body was found with a tie around his neck.

Tyhalibongo would not speculate on whether or not the death was related to a party that was held at the weekend, but did say that a friend of Rintsana’s said he was last seen coming from the party.

No arrests have been made yet.
