Johannesburg - A taxi driver was shot and killed on Friday at a filling station in Parktown, north of Johannesburg, Gauteng police said.
The man, 64, was about to drive 24 passengers to Polokwane, Limpopo, spokesperson Kay Makhubela said.
"It appears he was followed by three men travelling in a silver Polo. They stopped at the same garage, two of the men approached him and shot at him."
The man died at the scene around 14:00. Makhubela said eight empty cartridges were found on the scene.
A passenger was also shot and wounded during the shooting. They were taken to a nearby hospital.
A murder docket was opened. The killers are still at large.
