Johannesburg - A man was arrested for allegedly shooting his girlfriend's 19-year-old daughter dead in Robertsham in Johannesburg,
the Star reported on Monday.
Mikaela Bagley was shot on Saturday night while driving to her mother's house with her boyfriend Kaylin Roberts, 19.
Roberts's father, Grant Roberts, told the newspaper that the two were driving when they were flagged down by the alleged gunman. He said he believed the man knew they had been on their way to Bagley's mother's house.
He said the gunman allegedly parked his car not far from the house and the teenagers stopped their car because they recognised him.
"They thought that maybe he was with Mikaela's mother and they wanted to give them the keys to the house. They parked the car behind him and he walked over to the driver's window," Grant Roberts said.
"He put his arm around Mikaela's neck and shot her in the head. Kaylin got out of the car and ran and he (the gunman) ran after him and kept on shooting."
Bagley died instantly and Kaylin Roberts was shot at until he reached his parents' house.
Grant Roberts recounted the incident based on what his son told him, the newspaper reported.
Police spokesperson Michael Kgatle confirmed a man was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.
He was expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
