Johannesburg - Four youths accused of abducting, raping and murdering an 18-year-old girl appeared in the Alexandria Magistrate's Court on Friday, Eastern Cape police said.
Spokesperson Mali Govender said the youths - two aged 16, a third aged 17, and the fourth aged 18 - would remain in custody and are expected to appear in the same court on 14 June.
She said Bonelwa Mkhokheli, 18, had been taken to a house in the Kwa Nonqubela township near Grahamstown in April this year where she was repeatedly raped.
She was then bludgeoned and set alight.
Govender said the youths were arrested shortly afterwards.
Police found the girl's cellphone in their possession, as well as the weapon police believe was used to kill her.
