Bloemfontein - Negotiations for a possible plea bargain were mentioned during a right-wing coup plot trial in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein on Monday.
Prosecutor Tory Pretorius said the State was busy with negotiations that could shorten the trial significantly.
The matter was postponed to Wednesday.
The trial was set down to start on 18 November.
Mark Trollip, 48, and Johan Hendrik Prinsloo, 49, face charges of high treason for their alleged involvement in plans to bomb the ANC’s national conference in Mangaung last December.
According to the charge sheet, Trollip and Prinsloo planned to acquire weaponry such as AK-47, R1 and R4 rifles to execute the coup.
They remain in custody.
