Thabong woman raped, murdered

Johannesburg - A woman was found dead in Thabong near Welkom, Free State police said on Tuesday.

Lesego Mothibenyane, 24, of Oppenheimer Park, was found dead in the early hours of Monday morning in the street near G-Hostel, Warrant Officer Malebo Khosana said.

"They found a naked woman lying in a pool of blood on the ground. The paramedics were summoned to the scene and she was transported to Bongani Hospital for medical attention."

She died later on Monday from multiple stab wounds. She had apparently been raped. A case of rape and murder was opened.

"The suspects are still at large as there are no witnesses at this stage."
