Cape Town - EFF leader Julius Malema and Sports and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula, who were once bosom political buds, had South Africans gasping as they carried out a lengthy tussle on Twitter this week.
It appears to have started on Sunday when Malema retweeted Mbalula saying he was on a cruise ship. Mbalula then responded to a tweet about Malema wearing a Louis Vuitton belt while in court, saying: “Overalls were swapped for LV today that's the point no defiance in court. No red overalls in court. That is Julius revolution.”

The sports minister then tweeted: “Consistency must be portrayed by leaders, dont have double personalities "poor" yet you're drowning in branded clothes like Malema.”
And then the minister kept the tweets coming.
EFF has done everything they said they won't do when they get to Parliament, they were the first on Parliament buffet @nmzima19

But the fiery Malema didn’t keep his mouth shut, responding to Mbalula with a retweet from ‘Nchema’: “Mbalula must be careful what he says on here Twitter for mentions using EFF...His dirt is well documented this side.”

And so it continued with Mbalula even referencing cult 80’s film The Karate Kid and referring to himself as a “Mr Miyagi” type character to Malema.
And hey Karate Kid, don't forget I'm a Mr Miyagi to you @Julius_S_Malema. Phola

Later, even the ANCYL waded into the ‘twarer’, retweeting #HandsOffMbalulaHandsOff
The rest of South Africa seemed to be highly entertained too.

The sports minister served as ANC Youth League president before Malema.
Malema was in the Limpopo High Court on Tuesday for charges of racketeering and 52 other counts, including fraud.
The case was postponed to August 2015.
