Three appear for girl's murder

Cape Town - Three men appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court in Cape Town on Friday for allegedly killing a 10-year-old girl.

The men, aged between 24 and 38, would remain in custody until their next appearance on 15 October.

The girl's body was found under a bed in a room in a house in Gugulethu on Tuesday after her relative reported her missing on Monday, said Western Cape police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk.

"The victim still had her school tracksuit top on," he said.

Police could not confirm whose room it was.

The trio were arrested on Tuesday night.

"A post-mortem will be conducted to determine cause of death and also to see if she was sexually assaulted," Van Wyk said.
