Johannesburg - The bodies of two men were found burnt beyond recognition in Johannesburg on Thursday, Gauteng police said.

One body had a burnt tyre around its neck.

A passer-by found the body of one of the men in the veld in Dobsonville, Soweto, police spokesperson Kay Makhubela said.

"He appears to be in his 30s," said Makhubela.

The body of another man was found by a passer-by in the veld in Lenasia.

"He was found burnt with a tyre around his neck, " said Makhubela.

Police did not have further details relating to the deaths of the men.

They have not yet been identified and two murder cases had been opened.

No arrests had been made in either case.
