Cape Town - Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a police officer who was stabbed to death while changing his tyre on the N2.
Warrant Officer Petrus Holz, who was attached to the Hawks, was killed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The officer was in an unmarked car and stopped his vehicle near Macassar, where he was accosted by two assailants.
Acting Western Cape police commissioner Thembislie Phathekile said police have a “strong case” against the duo.
Authorities are also exploring the possibility that the two could be linked to similar crimes committed along the highway, he said.
The suspects, both from Macassar, are expected in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
