Two killed in KZN crash

Johannesburg - Two men died and four others were injured after a bakkie rolled several times off the R74 outside Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday, paramedics said.

"On arrival, paramedics found a small bakkie lying on its side down a long embankment. Occupants from the bakkie were found lying around the scene," ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.

"On assessment, paramedics found the lifeless body of the driver lying partially beneath the overturned bakkie. Another lifeless body of a male patient lay a few metres away from the vehicle."

Both men had already succumbed to their injuries prior to the arrival of emergency services.

"Four other patients were found on scene, one of them was critically injured. Paramedics immediately began their treatment and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support."

Once treated, the injured were transported to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the accident was not known.

Police were investigating.
