Durban - A man and a woman were shot dead when gunmen opened fire on their house in the Mpumulanga township near Durban, police said on Monday.
Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwani said that three others were seriously injured in the shooting that took place on Saturday evening.
He said the two who had died in the shooting had been identified as Numpumelelo Mkhize, 23, and Thembinkosi Ndlovu, 25.
He said the motive for the attack was unknown. Two cases of murder and three of attempted murder had been opened at the Mpumulanga police station.
It was not known how many gunmen were involved in the attack. The injured were being treated in hospital.
