Two more boys drown in Limpopo

Johannesburg - Two boys have drowned in Limpopo, bringing to five in the province this week as an indirect result of the heatwave.

Police divers recovered the lifeless bodies of the two boys aged 10 and 15 after a day-long search at a dam in Vleifontein outside Makhado this afternoon.

Police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto said the two boys went swimming to cool down yesterday and "experienced difficulty".

This brings the toll to five drowning since Wednesday, the police told News24.

On Wednesday a 17-year-old boy drowned in a river in Vuwani. Two other boys aged five and eight drowned on Tuesday in Phalaborwa.

The South African Weather Service have warned of high fire danger conditions as persistent high temperatures continue in Gauteng, parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga until Sunday.
