Two thrown off bakkie after trailer overturns on N1

Bloemfontein - Two people on the back of a bakkie were injured when it veered off the N1 freeway about 40km from Bloemfontein on Tuesday morning, paramedics said.

The bakkie's trailer overturned when the vehicle went into the veld and the men were thrown off, Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.

The two injured men were found near the accident site.

"Netcare 911 paramedics and other services found the bakkie, overturned trailer and accident debris scattered over a large area in the veld," Botha said.

Paramedics treated the injured on scene before taking them to a Bloemfontein hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the bakkie was not injured.
