Durban - A Glen Anil, Umhlanga, resident was shot and injured when robbers fired several shots during an armed robbery on Saturday night.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said a resident in The Curl in Umhlanga had heard her house intercom bell ringing shortly after 18:00 but she did not answer or open up.
“Four armed robbers then derailed the front driveway gate and forced open a sliding door to gain entry onto the property before holding up the resident,” he said.
“The robbers ransacked the house and stole a television, jewellery, cash and cellphones,” he said.
“When our armed response officer arrived at the scene the robbers fired several shots as they fled. A stray bullet hit and wounded a neighbour in the shoulder,” he said.
It is understood that the man sustained a single gunshot wound, and was treated and stabilised at the scene by paramedics before being rushed by ambulance to the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital.
