Urgent interdict to stop ANCYL congress dismissed

Pretoria - An urgent application to interdict the ANC Youth League national congress was dismissed by the High Court in Pretoria on Thursday.

Judge Moses Mavundla ruled that the urgent application lodged by a group of North West ANCYL members was not urgent.

The group - Thabo Molamu, Mbuyisela Booi, Gontse Maruping and Papa Jood - alleged that there were unresolved disputes relating to the exclusion of delegates.

The run-up to the ANCYL national congress has been marred by claims of irregular auditing processes and allegations of interference from top structures within the ruling party.

The congress is set to start on Friday.
