Johannesburg – ANC Women’s League treasurer general and International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane on Thursday said the league was not attending the NGC to discuss the 2017 succession debate.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Nkoana-Mashabane said, "This is a National General Council of the ANC, we are here to review policies, the next conference is in 2017.
"I am sure that almost 90% of our time will be taken up by looking at how we review the work we have done and [making] sure that [during] the remainder of our term... we fully implement the Mangaung resolutions.
"We really aren't coming here to discuss 2017 but we are gathered here to look at the implementation of the Mangaung's midterm."
She said the league had another two years to ensure that those resolutions were implemented.
"Our main focus is Mangaung. How do we fast track socio-economic transformation? ...Speaking about 2017 would not be opportune."
