The ANC Women’s League has vehemently denied the allegation that its strings are being pulled by the so-called Premier League in the ANC.
The league was addressing media at Gallagher Estate in Midrand a day before the organisation heads to the National General Council.
Secretary-General Meogo Matuba said there was no such thing as the Premier League in the ANC structures.
She said the current leadership was elected in a democratic process at its recent elective conference.
Treasurer-general and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, added that they were deeply insulted by the claim because it undermined their leadership abilities and negated work done by great leaders before them.
One issue of priority for the league going into the NGC was that of fair representation for women in leadership positions.
Nkoana Mashabane bemoaned the fact that women were still not being elected into positions of premiers, municipal managers and secretaries.
She said the issue of gender representation couldn't be the burden of the women’s league alone but must return to the centre of the organisation.
