Johannesburg – A woman, whose husband is in prison for burning down a wedding venue, was jailed for fraud by a Bloemfontein court on Monday.
Bloemfontein Regional Court Magistrate Marina Voges sentenced Leanné Greyling, 27, to seven years in jail for fraud and theft, OFM reported on its website.
On April 23, Greyling pleaded guilty to 12 counts of theft and 12 of fraud totaling more than R5m.
Netwerk24 reported that the businesswoman was involved in importing luxury cars, motorbikes, or spare parts for these vehicles. She took orders and money from people and did not deliver the goods.
In October 2013, the same court sentenced her husband Jean to four years in jail for setting fire to the hall at the Emoya Estate, Bloemfontein.
He was upset because the venue cancelled his booking the day before his wedding to Greyling in July that year because he had failed to pay a deposit.
The couple were married at a different venue.
