Johannesburg - A 49-year-old woman died in hospital after she was shot and robbed in the CBD, Gauteng police said on Sunday.
Men in two cars forced her to a halt and shot her as she was about to drive onto the M1 highway at the Booysens on-ramp on Saturday afternoon, Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said.
She owned a shop in the CBD and was driving with her employees in the car.
"Just as they were about to go onto the highway they were pushed by two cars. [The men] then shot at the woman and they got to the boot and took everything. They then drove away."
The woman was taken to hospital where she died. No one was injured.
"We are investigating a case of murder and also armed robbery," Makhubela said.
Meanwhile, a man died in a shack fire in Roodepoort on Saturday night.
"When they arrived they found the shack was burnt and found a man inside the shack. He was 35-years-old," Makhubela said.
"We are appealing to the community, as they know this time when winter comes, people use everything to make them warm and they must be careful to not start fires," he said.
