Woman killed in KZN crash

Johannesburg - A woman was killed and six other people were injured when a bakkie and minibus collided in Cato Ridge on Friday evening, KwaZulu-Natal emergency services said.

The woman, who was driving the bakkie, was trapped in the wreckage, spokesperson Robert McKenzie said in a statement.

"Her young daughter, who had been travelling with her, was rushed to hospital privately by family members, prior to paramedics arriving on the scene."

Five people in the minibus were injured. Four of them sustained minor injuries. The fifth patient was a pregnant woman in her 20s.

Paramedics found she appeared to be developing pregnancy-related complications and rushed her to hospital.

The cause of the accident was unknown. Police were investigating.
