Zuma, DA given deadline to agree on tapes

Bloemfontein - The Supreme Court of Appeal is prepared to give President Jacob Zuma and the DA another opportunity to resolve their differences regarding the so-called spy tapes.

Their lawyers have agreed in principle that a third party, a senior legal mind, be asked to judge what information was part of Zuma's confidential representations to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

The tape transcripts and other documents relate to an NPA decision to drop corruption charges against Zuma.

The parties have until 16:00 Friday next week, 22 August 2014, to deliver an agreement to the SCA to be made a court order.

Shaun Rosenberg, for the Democratic Alliance, said they would agree in principle to such an agreement.

"If the parties cannot come to an agreement the high court's decision would stand."

"If we cannot come to an agreement the original order stands," Zuma's counsel Kemp J Kemp submitted in reply.

Judgment was reserved.

The North Gauteng High Court ordered the NPA to hand over a copy of the tapes to the DA.

But who will the "senior legal mind" be? One of Zuma's cronies? The Supreme Court of Appeal is back-pedalling furiously to stay on the right side of Zuma. Not one of them wants to act decisively.

No agreements about crime. Let the tapes be handed over. Let's get to the bottom of this. This might be an opportunity to solve half our problems.

The DA has nothing, otherwise they would have made it public, instead of threatening the ANC about it.

Why would the DA agree to anything?? They have an order instructing Zuma to handover the tapes, why would it be in their interest to accept anything less?

Things are getting hotter by the day. Mr President, you're a number one citizen and my belief is, you should lead by example. Why keep delaying everything that the public wants to know about you? I'm not a DA supporter but a truth supporter. The so called spy tapes have been delayed and the Nkandlasgate report has been delayed too, after Thuli Madonsela's findings. She gave you a deadline but you failled to meet up with it. WHY??? Just please come clean for your own sake so that the public might regain your trust. They say "justice delayed is justice denied". Just come clean and stop DA to keep questioning your office fitness,PLEASE.
