Johannesburg - Judgment in the case against Aurora Empowerment Systems directors, including Khulubuse Zuma and Zondwa Mandela, for allegedly stripping the assets of the liquidated Pamodzi Gold's mines, is expected in the High Court in Pretoria on Thursday.
Nelson Mandela's grandson and President Jacob Zuma's nephew are fighting claims alleging fraud amounting to almost R2bn after gaining access to mines near Johannesburg without paying for them.
In 2009, Aurora was appointed by liquidators to manage the mines in Springs and Orkney.
However, the company instead allegedly stripped the mines of infrastructure and also left thousands of employees without pay and surviving on handouts.
Court documents reportedly showed that equipment was sold for scrap, and almost $10m of gold was missing.
Mandela, Zuma, and their fellow defendants deny they are responsible for the mining venture's failure, stating they never had full control of the mines.
Other Aurora directors include Thulani Ngubane, Sulliman Bhana and Fazel Bhana.
At the beginning of March this year, Zuma approached the High Court in Pretoria with an urgent application to have the claims set aside.
However, Judge Eberhardt Bertelsmann dismissed the application with costs.
Zuma's interests were not directly affected he said.
