Zuma's nephew caught speeding

2012-01-21 13:00
Durban - A nephew of President Jacob Zuma has paid a R3 000 admission of guilt fine after he was caught driving at 181km/h in KwaZulu Natal, The Star reported on Saturday.

KwaZulu Natal police spokesperson Thulane Zwane confirmed the incident involving Khulubuse Zuma, who is also the chairperson of the embattled gold mining company, Aurora Empowerment Systems.

Zuma was driving a silver convertible Maserati when he was trapped by Ballito traffic police on January 9.

He was arrested by Road Traffic Inspectorate officials and taken to Umhlali police station. He appeared in Umhlali Magistrate's Court the following day.

Police told the newspaper that the vehicle was registered to Viglietti Motors in Cape Town. Manager Gareth Crossley would not say if the car was being test driven by Zuma or if he was in the process of buying it.

"I cannot say anything," he said.
