Businessman kidnapped on his way home from work

Johannesburg – A Bangladeshi businessman was kidnapped while heading home from his fast food outlet in Lenasia, Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Monday.

Hossain Nahid, 39, was last seen on Sunday afternoon travelling with three shop assistants in a green Nissan 1400 before they were robbed by four men, Lenasia police spokesperson Khalipha Mvula said in a statement.

The men blocked off Nahid's vehicle before approaching it and taking the shop assistants' cellphones.

The suspects then proceeded to “drag” Nahid out of the vehicle and forced him into a Quantum before driving away.

Mvula said the incident is believed to have taken place at the intersection between Wimbledon road and Karasberg street in Lenasia South.

Eyewitnesses or members of the public with information that could lead to an arrest are encouraged to contact the Crime Stop number on 08600 10 111. Anonymous tip-offs can be sent to Crime Line on 32211.
