Durban - A 33-year-old man who suffered a medical condition, died when he lost control of the car while driving with his wife, and crashed through a wall in Escombe, Durban on Wednesday.
His wife suffered moderate injuries during the accident at the corner of Main and Bowker roads, Rescue Care spokesperson Ceron Lennox said.
"Paramedics found the man in his 30s in cardiac arrest. Immediately, resuscitation efforts were started with advanced life support paramedics. However, after approximately 30 minutes the man was declared deceased at the scene," she said.
His wife had sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital, said Lennox.
Captain Nqobile Gwala said Malvern police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.
"The 33-year-old man was driving his vehicle when he complained of chest pain. He then lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a concrete wall," she said.
"Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated," she said.
