Durban - A plush office park in Westville has been exposed as an online porn den after an irked mattress actress lifted the veil of secrecy.
The woman, who would only be named as Chantelle, told News24 that her erstwhile employer had converted office space at the exclusive Derby Downs Centre in the sought after suburb into bedrooms, under the auspices of running a call centre.
The woman insists that she had only worked at the office park for a month, having been pushed to a life of online porn after falling on hard times.
“I had been working at a hardware store but I wasn’t enjoying my job. I decided to give it a try,” she said.
She had been recruited by her boyfriend, who would only identify himself as Shaun, who had met his employer while working at a bar.
“He told me he was starting this business like one he had in Thailand and asked me to be a manager. He also asked me to help recruit girls for the website and when Chantelle was having a hard time at work I said she should maybe try it,” he said.
Via sites Iamlive.com and Jasmine.com, women using webcams chat to men and then proceed into private chat rooms with a camera feed which bills the viewer’s credit card by the minute.
The couple said that Chantelle had had an earning potential of nearly R20 000 per month, and that their boss, whose identity is known to News24, had absconded with their wages.
Efforts to contact the man proved fruitless at the time of publication.
The two said that last week they found that the “offices” had been stripped off all the furniture and they were empty.
