Fire put out at Durban university campus

Durban – A fire was put out at a University of KwaZulu-Natal campus in Durban on Monday evening, a police spokesperson confirmed.

It was not yet clear how the blaze at a cafeteria on Howard College Campus, in Berea started, said Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane.

He said there were no visible protests on scene and no case had been opened.

Some people posted photos of the fire to Facebook, claiming it could be linked to protests earlier in the day.

A university spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
