Johannesburg – Members who are ill-disciplined should step aside before the party had to intervene, ANC Western Cape Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) spokesperson Jabu Mfusi told News24 on Saturday.
“We are warning our comrades to act responsibly in whatever that they are doing. They must report their ill-discipline to us on time so that we are not forced to intervene,” he told News24.
Mfusi said they were tired of ill-disciplined members who were tarnishing the ANC name in the Western Cape.
This comes after several Western Cape ANC members have been in the media spotlight for all the wrong things.
These [ANC members] include suspended ANC chair Marius Fransman who has been accused of sexual harassment, PEC member Andile Lili who was arrested on Friday and later released on bail for being in contempt of court and Western Cape secretary Faiez Jacobs who was suspended after allegedly assaulting a female traffic officer.
Mfusi said they were concerned about the implications this would have on the ANC’s image during the upcoming local elections.
“We are concerned for the local elections. No organisation would want to answer to wrongdoings by its members.
"Members must assist the ANC... People understand that discipline is key in the ANC. They must voluntarily step aside before they are forced to do so,” he said.
