Bloemfontein - A young woman bought airtime with the last of her cash to track down the owner of wallet she had picked up at a stop sign in Bloemfontein.
Diketseng Mosiuoa, 28, an unemployed resident of Botshabelo, was walking the streets of Bloemfontein on Monday, looking for a job, when she spotted the wallet on the road in Bayswater, Netwerk24 reported.
She was determined to locate the owner, so she called all the numbers on the cards in the wallet.
"I know what it feels like to have nothing. There [was] cash and bank cards in the wallet – and I thought maybe that was also all that person had."
The owner, a local lawyer who asked to remain anonymous, was informed by the Hunters’ Association and Virgin Active that his wallet had been found after they got a call from Mosiuoa.
He said his wife had left his wallet on the roof of his car that morning. He only realised later that the wallet was missing and had tried, without success, to find it.
"I never thought I’d get it back."
He picked his wallet up from Mosiuoa at her home in Botshabelo on Tuesday.
"She didn’t want to take a single cent in return for the wallet," he said. "I hope and pray someone can give her a job."
