KZN robbery gang nabbed with cop's gun

Durban - A gang police believe to be behind a spate of house and business robberies in Inanda will appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The men were apprehended on Saturday, and one of the two arms seized is a police officer’s pistol which was stolen when the officer was attacked and robbed earlier this year.

Police spokesperson Major Shooz Magudulela in a statement said the group known as Msenti’s Gang, wanted for a string of robberies, was nabbed in KwaMashu and Ntuzuma on Saturday.

The arresting officers were conducting an intelligence-driven operation “aimed at tracing these thugs who terrorised the community of Inanda and the surroundings”.

Two unlicensed guns, a 303 rifle and a 9mm pistol, were recovered during the arrest.
KwaZulu-Natal provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said he was elated that “another criminal grouping is behind bars where they cannot terrorise innocent members of the community anymore”.
