Man arrested in Durban for hydroponic dagga plants
Durban - A 57-year-old man was arrested in Durban at the weekend when he was found in possession of hydroponic dagga plants with a street value of R100 000, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.
"A sting operation was conducted in a mansion which led the police in discovering a laboratory which manufactured the dagga using hydroponic systems and stolen electricity from the municipality pole," Major Shooz Magudulela said.
"Hydroponic dagga plants valued at about R100 000 were confiscated for further examination by the forensic experts."
The raid took place on Friday in Bluff.
Magudulela said the man was also found in possession of an unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
He is facing charges of manufacturing of hydroponic drugs, dealing in hydroponic drugs, and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The man is expected to appear in court on Monday.
