Johannesburg – Kagiso police are investigating the shooting of two men at a spaza shop in Tshepisong, west of Johannesburg this week.
Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said police found a 28-year-old man lying on the ground and bleeding inside a spaza shop.
"Bystanders informed the police that the man was already dead. Police noticed that the deceased sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his head."
Sibiya said police found a second man bleeding on the ground.
"He also sustained a gunshot wound next to his left ear but was still breathing. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition."
Sibiya said police were investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.
In a separate incident on Thursday, Sibiya said a man was shot and killed at Tshepisong west near a cheese factory.
"Police received a complaint of shooting at about 07:20 and proceeded to the scene of crime. On arrival, they were approached by the deceased’s friend… he alleged that they were walking on the footpath when they came across three unknown men."
Sibiya said the suspects wanted to know what they had inside their bags. He said the suspects then drew a firearm.
"The two victims then ran for cover and left their friend behind.
"A few minutes later they heard gunshots being fired. The two victims later went back to the crime scene and were shocked to find their friend lying motionless on the ground and bleeding. The paramedics arrived and certified him dead on the scene," he said.
